Season 4 Episode 5: What is Saving Faith?

Saving Faith should be accompanied by deeds of Godly righteousness.

1) We must place our faith in Jesus Christ and allow Him to cover our sin debt with His righteousness.
     A) Jesus has set us free from sin and death. We are no longer in bondage to sin (Galatians 3:11-14).
     B) Satan is creating a sense of lack and hopelessness in our lives. He wants to keep us with a feeling of guilt and a prisoner of our past failures.
     C) The Holy Spirit creates conviction in our life in order to draw us closer to Jesus Christ.  Satan desires for us to carry the full weight of our sin. (John 21:15-25).

2) Jesus is the Lamb of God and the Good Shepherd (John 10:1-18).
     A) Jesus looks for the one that has wandered off and is alone, vulnerable, uncertain, crushed in spirit (Matthew 18:10-14; Psalm 34:18).
     B) The more we depend upon Jesus and His Word, the less anxious we become.  We no longer feel the pressure of controlling every aspect of our lives (Psalm 23:1-6).
     C) We can do a lot of good things in the name of religion, but do we really know the voice of Jesus? Are we connected to Him.  Is Jesus alive inside of us (Matthew 7:21-29)?

3).  A confession of faith in Jesus that does not produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit is a faith that is not transformational (Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:13-26).
     A) A follower of Christ who says he knows Him but does not do what He says is a liar (I John 2:1-6).
     B) Whoever claims to love Jesus and hates his brother is a liar (I John 4:7-21).
     C) One who follows Christ should carry the same attitude of Christ. His fragrance should let people know that are close to them (I Peter 4:1-11).

Discussion Question:  How can you be sure that you have obtained saving faith in Jesus Christ?
